Tagliapietra, Jorge (b.1952)

   He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He studied in the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica (Ciudad de Buenos Aires): guitar and composition. (piano with Gilda Chittro and violin with Sebastián Cambón)
    His guitar teachers were Fanny Castro, María Luisa Anido and Jorge Martinez Zárate. Among his most important composition professors we should mention Virtú Maragno, Fermina Casanova, Marta Lambertini and Valdo Sciamarella. Later he studied in the Conservatoire Issy les Moulineaux and the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, with D. Dondeyne and T. Aubin. He also got a degree in Electronic Engineering. As a performer he played numerous guitar recitals in Argentina and France, and also performed as soloist with several orchestras and ensembles. Jorge Tagliapietra has been recognized with several national awards in guitar interpretation.
   His compositions are mostly devoted to solo instruments and chamber groups, and besides his own pieces, he transcribes and arranges works by other composers. He also works in research about electronic music, transcribing his own music to be played electronically.
