Pompeyo Camps, in the same way
that Héctor Panizza, with their four used for the first time operas,
"The slope", "The country property", of 1987, " Marathon ", of 1990
and "The darkness of the reason", of 1996, it is located among the
most fruitful Argentinean composers in the matter, after Arturo
Berutti, Felipe Boero, Constantino Gaito and Alfredo Schiuma.
It is exactly in the land
of the opera where the composer's ideological posture is discovered
sharply with a message of problematic social topic, very marked
in "The country property", a tragic farce that the same author explained
with reason of his premiere in the Teatro Colón: "I imagined it
like a parable about the feudalism in our America and their component,
the filicidio (to kill a son). In turn, feudalism and filicidio
(to kill a son) they represent the typical and paternalistic dictatorships
of Latin America.".
In " Marathon ", have
more than enough libretto of Ricardo Monti, action that rotates
in lathe of a dance marathon, Camps it looked for to create a metaphor
on the human condition and in "The darkness of the reason", with
a text also of Monti, loaded with debatable symbolisms, he leaned
for a learned and discursive posture, with a faithful music to their
style and tendency
